Bea Arthur - “A towering comedic talent”
Seriously, very sad news to a Bea Arthur fan like myself. She was a true talent with a sense of humor about herself. More of my favorite Bea moments after the fold.
More bloggers than bartenders?
I almost fell out of my chair when I read this. There are now more full time (as in their full income) bloggers than many of America’s most storied professions including firefighters, computer programmers, and CEOs.
Remember Mark Penn:
As bloggers have increased in numbers, the number of journalists has significantly declined. In Washington alone, there are now 79% fewer DC-based employees of major newspapers than there were just few years ago. At the same time, Washington is easily the most blogged-about city in America, if not the world.

We wanted everybody to know this was happening, so there is no reason for alarm:
A special effects scene will be staged on Wednesday morning, March 25, 2009 between 9:30AM and Noon, on the Potomac River, as part of a film production in the District. The controlled special effect, which will last for approximately 2 seconds (not 2 minutes as has been reported elsewhere) is being staged as part of the CBS Paramount television pilot titled ‘Washington Field’ which will be filming at various locations across the city.
Contrary to reports, there will not be an “explosion,” and no boat or any other object will actually “blow up.” The contained-pyrotechnic effect will involve a brief flash and plume of smoke that will last for only a few seconds. The scene will be filmed out on the open water, at a safe distance from any roadway, bridge, or other structure.

Jury duty?!
I think I might be the only person excited to receive a summons, but I totally am - I got my first jury duty! Extra bonus for it being the federal District Court for DC.
I didn’t know about the call-in-everyday-for-a-month protocol, but I just hope they don’t want me the day of my graduation…
